Eligibility : Nationality

To be eligible to apply for a position in the TNPSC Group 2 exam, candidates must be permanent citizens of India. In addition, the following individuals may also be eligible to apply:

  • Citizens of India
  • Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • Individuals of Indian origin who have migrated from countries such as Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: Individuals who fall under categories 3 or 4 or 2 must also obtain a certificate of eligibility from the Government of Tamil Nadu in order to be eligible to apply.

Candidates from the state of Tamil Nadu will be given preference over other candidates from within India.

TNPSC Group 2 Age Limit

Age limit and Relaxation

To be eligible to take the TNPSC Group 2 exam in 2022, candidates must be within the specified age range for the position they are applying for. The age limit for most positions in the TNPSC Group 2 exam is 18-30 years, with the exception of the following positions:

  • Sub-Registrar Grade 2
  • Probation Officer
  • Junior Employment Officer (Differently Abled)
  • For these positions, the age requirements may vary.

  • There is no upper age relaxation for candidates belonging to ST, SC, OBC, Most Backward Classes/Denotified Communities, and Destitute Widows.
  • Candidates who have a disability of more than 40% may be eligible for an age relaxation of up to 10 years above the upper age limit.
  • The maximum age limit for ex-servicemen is 48 years.
  • The maximum age limit is 35 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST, Most Backward Classes/Denotified Communities, Backward Classes, and Destitute Widows

Note: The age concession does not apply to ex-servicemen applicants who have already been recruited to any class or service or category.
